The journey continues for Clonmore this week when we face Castletown of Meath in a provincial semi final . In the previous rounds, Clonmore defeated Grattan Og of Longford , on a scoreline of 1-16 to 0-10 in what was a very good encounter , with the home side picking up from where they left off in the Junior A final replay , getting some magnificent scores, in a game that although tight at times, was played in a fanstastic spirit. Then came Kildare champions Straffan to NCP, and this encounter had all the excitement of the previous round with the away side looking a serious match for our lads. Clonmore really had to work hard , particularly early on, when tackles were flying in , and chances were presenting themselves to the visitors. However , this was a game that brought out everything good that is in this side , showing again the same mettle that was there when clinching the last gasp equaliser agianst Leighlinbridge in the drawn game . A goal just before half time was vital in keeping us within touching distance of our opponents and we went in trailing by just a single point . The second half , we gave an excellent display , being able to manage the game on the field , limiting Straffans scoring opportunites, and then producing a blistering final 15 plus minutes, scoring 2-3 from the 16th minute onwards to close it out on a scoreline of Clonmore 3-5 Straffan 0-8. A real opportunity awaits the winner of Saturdays game , with it clear that this team has the talent and skill , but more importantly , the ability to dig deep when needed. Best of luck to all.
