Lotto numbers drawn on Monday 27 January were 1, 3, 13 and 25. There was no jackpot winner. As there were no match three winners, €150 was shared between five lucky dips: Seanie Furlong, Kiltegan; Declan Kennedy, Ballybit; Rian, c/o Bruno; Tommy Kehoe, St. Patricks Park and Leighton Curry, Ballyoliver. Promoter prize`s Gabriel Deering. On Saturday U12`s hosted Burrin Celtic and they shared the points in Rathvilly. In what was an evenly-contested first-half, Celtic applied the early pressure and were denied early on by a great clearance off the line by Craig Burgess while at the other end, Slaney won a series of corners with efforts just wide of the target. The breakthrough came when Celtic`s Brandon Delaney was first to react to a loose ball and he netted to put Burrin 0-1 at the break. Slaney responded and midway through the second-half, a great burst up the right wing by Callum Brennan saw him send a pinpoint cross in for Taylor Ryan to fire home a deserved equaliser. Burrin keeper James Dowling made a great save to deny Callum a late winner. On Sunday the lads traveled to the Meadows, Graiguecullen and took on St. Patricks in the Carlow Shield and lost by the odd goal in five. Slaney got off to the perfect start with a goal on two minutes following fine build-up play between Lubomir Lesko and Aaron Broughall and a fine finish from Daniel O`Brien. A flick-on from a corner into the path of Lubomir who fired home from just outside the box, made it 0-2 on 16 minutes. So dominant were Slaney that it was 30 minutes before Pat`s had their first shot on goal. After the interval a close range header and a penalty from the home team and the sides were level, putting the game in the balance and both sides tussled for the next goal. Mick Foley thought he had scored when he connected well to a cross from Dominic Byrne only to see it smash off the crossbar whereas Pat`s slotted home their chance to progress to the next round.
