Lotto numbers drawn on Monday 13 January were 15, 17, 18 and 20. There was no Jackpot winner. As there were no match three winners, €150 was shared between five lucky dips: Ger Wogan, Delacy Abbey; Irene Smith, Father Cullen Terrace; Joan Sibbald, 9 Ballyoliver Road, Kevin Deering, Enniscorthy and Teresa Mullen, Baltinglass. Promoter prize`s Michael Kehoe. In the Premier, a lone first-half strike from Lubomir Lesko was enough for Slaney to take the points and third spot in the league standings. Killeshin started the better of the sides and forced Fergal Harmon into an early save on 10 minutes. After that, the lads began to get a foothold into the game and within two minutes, a super finish from Lubomir rewarded some great build-up play from Daniel O`Brien to put Slaney ahead. The rest of the game was about creating and missing chances - Dominic Byrne, Daniel O`Brien twice and Aaron Broughall all had chances to put the game to bed but could not find the target when well-placed. Lubomir`s early strike proved to be the winner while the defence held out for their 2nd clean sheet of the season. 27 seasons have passed since Slaney last recorded two clean sheets at the highest level, when the club`s present secretary Anthony Byrne kept Parkville (Runners-up) and Killeshin scoreless in the premier division 92/93. In fact on Sunday, the lads created a bit of history for themselves as for the first time - in an away premier fixture there was no goal conceded and won by the slenderest of margins 0 -1. The full starting line-up is recorded in Slaney Team of the Week (13) – Jan. Fergal Harmon. Defenders: Andy Foley; Stephen Farrell; Mick Foley; Ruaire Tomkins. Midfield: Lubomir Lesko; Eoin Curran; Aaron Broughall. Forwards: Dominic Byrne; Daniel O`Brien; Rory McKiernan. Some club records never see the light of day and clean sheets in the Carlow premier division is a prime example. Out of the club`s 187 premier games to date, there have been only 10 clean sheets recorded and the list of goal keepers is short: Anthony Byrne 5; Fergal Harmon 2; Enda Byrne 1; John Whyte 1 and Mark Moore 1. How John Whyte ended up in a list of goal keepers is a story for another day but he did kept Nurney FC scoreless in the premier 94/95 and they haven`t recovered since.
