50/50 Weekly Draw – 1 Year Anniversary

Corofin United FC has grown from strength to strength over the past five years with membership numbers growing annually from c.150 to c.300 between 2016 and 2021. This is a huge credit to the work and commitment by volunteers, parents, coaches, and committee members.

We now have 11 Teams competing from U10 through to U16 and Junior, this places ever increasing demands on our training facilities. We continue to plan on how we can address these demands in both the present and future.

50/50 Weekly Draw – 1 Year Anniversary

The Club depends on traditional fundraising activities throughout the year to maintain and develop its facilities, it cannot depend solely on membership fees. The club’s ability to raise money through traditional forms of fundraising during the pandemic have been significantly hindered.

Since moving online, the draw has been a critical source of income for the club during the pandemic. The 50/50 Weekly Draw has contributed over €3,000 to the club over the past 12 months. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who has supported the 50/50 Weekly Draw during this difficult period.

Facilities

The purpose of the 50/50 Weekly Draw is to help raise funds to contribute towards the maintenance of pitches, purchase and maintenance of machinery, development of new facilities and help ensure the continued upkeep of Western Hygiene Park.

Works have recently commenced to extend the paving and lighting to the perimeter of the clubhouse, extend the existing machine store and provide new bicycle parking. We will shortly be replacing the netting for the full-size goals and providing new additional junior goals.

During the summer break we replaced the fence along the eastern boundary of the park to provide a secure perimeter. These works were fully funded by Councillor Donagh Killilea and we wish to extend our gratitude to him for his assistance.

Over the short to medium term, we plan to concentrate on upgrading the training facilities including;

  • Replacement flood lights for the Training Pitch
  • Drainage works to the Training Pitch
  • Provision of a 2nd training area at the end of the match pitches

In 2022, we intend on submitting a planning application for a new 3G Astro Training Pitch. The delivery of a new astro pitch is essential for the continued development of the club. Training sessions are heavily weather dependent during the winter months and this facility would help ensure regular training sessions for all teams without interruption.
