Tullamore Town FC

Match kicked off at 2.45pm in Rossleighan Park against Killeigh in warm overcast conditions. Both teams settled in to the game quite quickly but it was consistent Tullamore pressure that led to a corner just over ten minutes into the first half. A clean cross into the box saw Max Cullen rise and slot a strong header into the corner of the net for Tullamore’s first. Not long after that, Shane Horkan broke through to place low into the corner for the first of a brace, which came several minutes later from his own rebounded shot off of the Killeigh keeper. A brief rally by Killeigh with a couple of long range efforts didn’t trouble Aidan Walsh too much who kept another clean sheet, playing high and cutting out through balls in comfort. 

Just before half-time, Samad Aseez, with his relentless tenacity and energy powered through to drive a net-busting shot home to make it four.

Second half saw no changes to starting line up and it wasn’t long before Tullamore pressure led to a free kick twenty plus yards from goal. Lined up by Scott McCumiskey and beautifully lifted over the wall into the far top corner, any hope of a Killeigh comeback was snuffed out. 

Mark Thornton came off the bench to get on the end of a through ball to make it six. All substitutes were used and provided new energy into the Tullamore Team. Fantastic performances by all with stand out performances from Charlie Heffernan, Cillian Spollen, Louis Aubin and man of the match Max Cullen.
