Colga FC Events Membership

Colga FC Events is an association football (soccer) club in south County Galway. It is a community voluntary organisation run by its members for the benefit of their families and neighbours. The club promotes soccer among girls and boys of all ages. We recognise that sport is for life and we value teamwork, good health and fair play as much as tournament success.

The club was founded in 1996. It owns grass pitches with a training area in a woodland setting at old Kilcornan Lodge, by Clarenbridge village. Fundraising is ongoing for the long-term development of the grounds. A full-sized all-weather pitch with synthetic grass is the next priority.

There are currently over 400 playing members, in all age groups, from U6 to adult. Colga teams compete each year in a variety of competitions from kids friendly challenges to Galway District league and cup tournaments at Junior (adult) level. The coaches are all FAI certificated and the club has a designated Child Safety Officer.

Colga is a stronghold of women’s football and has had members selected for provincial and national honours in recent years. Every summer we host an FAI Summer Soccer School for both boys and girls. The winter Girls Training Academy is a more recent development but has been as successful as it was popular.

If you are already a member or a Colga parent, your participation and opinions matter to us. Tell us what you enjoy and what you want to do at training. Tell us what you like about the club but also how you think we can improve it. And be sure to tell your friends about us too.

Regards,
Colga FC Events
