The coming week will be a very important one for the two adult teams in Tinryland G.F.C.
Our Junior (A) team put up a great performance in the Co. semi-final at the Netwatch Training centre on Saturday when they reversed the recent group stage result against Ballon.
In a game dominated by the strong wind a Tinryland win looked unlikely at half time as the boys in blue and white only had a slender lead of 2 points having played with the elements in the first half.
The 2nd half saw a totally revived Tinryland as they took the game to Ballon who could only muster a further 2 points despite having the advantage of the gale. Tinryland ran out winners by 11 points to 8 points and will now face championship favourites Grange in the final at 4 p.m. on Saturday next at Netwatch Cullen Park.
Outstanding for Tinryland on Saturday last were Niall Barrett, Joey Ryan, Peter Doran, Cormac McElligott, Alan Barrett and the Doyle brothers Glen and Evan.
Our senior team will contest the quarter final of the Michael Lyng motors S.F.C. against Bagenalstown Gaels at Netwatch Cullen Park on Sunday next at 2.30 p.m. A win for Tinryland on Sunday would mean a semi-final place for the first time in 8 years.
At juvenile level our U11 and U13 teams tasted success recently. The U11 team were worthy winners of the Garda tournament staged by the St. Patrick’s club in Tullow while our U13 team ended their season on a winning note when they defeated Michael Davitts by 3 points in the division 1 B final at the Netwatch training centre on Sunday last.
Juvenile winter training has been attracting a large turnout recently and it continues on this Wednesday evening at 6.45 p.m.
The club lotto is now heading towards a jackpot of €8800 and can be played by downloading the Tinryland G.F.C. club space app or buying a ticket from any of the many lotto sellers in our club.
