ACFL Division 4 Men

Ballynacarrgy 1-25 St. Loman’s Mullingar 0-16

St Loman’s travelled to Ballynacarrgy’s Moynihan Park, last Wednesday evening. The Blues were short several players for this 6th round fixture and relied on the services of stalwarts like Nigel Graham, Niall McGurran, Johnny Mee and Darryl Quinn.

The first half was nip-and tuck and only 2 points separated the sides at the interval, which saw Ballynacarrgy edge the 1-8 to 0-9 half time scoreline. St. Loman’s best player upfront (in the first half) was Davy Morgan, Morgan caused numerous headaches for the oppositions defence and he had 5 points in the bag prior to getting injured just before halftime.

The 2nd half was a different affair which saw ‘the Bal’ fire over 17 points to St Lomans 7 points, this lead could have been greater were it not for some top class saves from custodian Callum Butler Dolan. Gerry Grehan and Sean Daly, at full back and centre half back respectively, played very well throughout and stifled numerous Ballynacargy attacks, the midfield partnership of Nedas Bielicas and Tristan Graham were solid throughout.

Although Morgans absence was notable in the 2nd half, the introduction of the O’Hara brothers, Conan and Oisin, helped Lomans stay withing touching distance up until the final 10 minutes, young Oisin O’Hara was particularly impressive and appears to have a bright footballing future ahead of him. Shane Mulderry had a solid game throughout and he fired over two beautiful 2-pointers, one in each half.

Next up will be Rosemount at home on 13th May.

Team; Callum Butler Dolan, Adam Brady, Gerry Grehan (c), Mark O’Gara, Nigel Graham, Sean Daly, Adam O’Connor, Tristan Graham (0-2), Nedas Bielicas, Shane Mulderry (0-4), Eoghan Kenny, Byron Graham, Niall McGurran (0-1), Davy Morgan (0-5) & Johnny Mee. Subs; Oisin O’Hara (0-3), Darryl Quinn & Conan O’Hara (0-1).

Subs used: Chloe Cahill, Kate McDonnell, Aoibhe Hogan

Scór Success at County Fleadh

Well done to our brilliant group of girls who represented St. Loman’s Mullingar at the County Fleadh in Moate over the weekend. They had great success in the competitions, winning both the 12–15 year-old 8-hand Céilí and 4-hand Céilí events. The team now progresses to the Leinster finals in Drogheda, and we wish them the very best of luck as they prepare to represent the club and county once again. A fantastic achievement that highlights the importance of Scór within the club.
