   Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes 30th March 2025

The past week was a busy one on the playing front with adult and juvenile teams in action at all levels. Tinryland seniors got their 2nd win in this years S.F.L. division 1 when they had 2 points to spare over neighbours Palatine in Bennekerry on Friday evening. This game doubled as the Andy Murphy shield final in aid of Carlow Hospice. After the game the Andy Murphy shield was presented to Tinryland captain Danny Moran by John Murphy youngest son of the late Andy Murphy.

The seniors will be back in action on Friday 11th April at home to Old Leighlin at 7.30 p.m.

For the 2nd successive week Tinryland fielded 3 adult teams and despite losing to Fighting Cocks there were positives to take from the division 5 game on Wednesday last. This team will be back in action at home to Old Leighlin on this coming Wednesday 2nd April at 7.30 p.m.

In the S.F.L. division 3 Tinryland’s no. 2 team were well beaten by Mount Leinster Rangers in Borris on Saturday evening. When these two teams play championship football later in 2025 they will be competing in vastly different grades with Rangers playing in the senior championship and Tinryland competing in Junior (B). The next game in the S.F.L. division 3 will be a home game with Fighting Cocks on Saturday 12th April at 7.30 p.m.

Best wishes to our 3 senior footballers John Murphy, Mark Mullen and Paddy Regan who will be part of the Carlow team that will play Meath in the Leinster senior football championship in Pairc Tailteann Navan on Sunday next 6th April at 3.p.m.

At underage level Tinryland U16 team defeated Naomh Eoin by the minimum margin in a high scoring game in Rathcrogue on Thursday last.

Little Hoops training for boys and girls U6 will begin on this coming Wednesday 2nd April from 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

Club members are reminded that Tinryland Tidy towns will hold a spring clean on various roads throughout Tinryland on Saturday next 5th April from 10 a.m. Volunteers are asked to meet at St. Josephs terrace. Areas to be covered include Ballinacarrig to the GAA club, Church Lane to Kanes Cross and Clonmelsh to Tinryland Village.

The club lotto still stands at €10,000 and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday evening draw from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were:  Andrea Dalton, Paul O’Gorman, Jim Deane and Liam Fitzpatrick.
