 Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes 2nd March 2025

The season is about to start and Tinryland will have 3 adult teams in action when the league begins on St Patricks weekend.

Tinryland seniors will have a tough league opener on Friday 14th March when they travel to Fr. Ryan Park to take on Co. champions Rathvilly with a 7.30 p.m. throw in.

The junior team will compete in division 3 and their opening game will be on Saturday 15th March at home to Palatine at 7.30 p.m.

The 2nd junior team will begin their league campaign in division 5 on Wednesday 19th March at home to Askea at 7.30 p.m.

The minor team will be first in action on this Monday 3rd March at home to Fenagh in rathcrogue at 7 p.m. Note change of venue

Tinryland U16 team will begin their season with a home game with Mount Leinster Rangers on Thursday next 6th March at 7 p.m. 

4 players namely Killian Fagan, Cormac McElligott, Keith Jackson and Alex Kelliher have left the club while Jack Lowry has returned from Graiguecullen and Jamie Furlong has joined from Baltinglass on inter co transfers.

Bennekerry-Tinryland senior ladies and their backroom team were given a civic reception by Carlow Co. Council in the Visual theatre Carlow on Thursday last in recognition of their Leinster and All Ireland victories. The Bennekerry-Tinryland club will hold their victory dinner dance in the Lord Bagenal Inn Leighlinbridge on Friday 14th March at 7 p.m. Tickets are available from Yvonne at 0857374939, Sinead at 0860226141 or Tasha at 0857083127.

Club members who are involved in athletics had more success at the Leinster Indoor track and field championship in Abbottstown on Saturday last. Adam Murphy (Tinryland A.C.) who is having a brilliant season took gold in the men’s senior 200m with a personal best of 21.54 seconds. Senior footballer Paul Broderick (St. Laurence O’Toole A.C.) was a brilliant winner in the masters 800m with a winning time of 2 06.29 while Carlow cross country champion Padraig Webb took 5th position in the mens 1500m.

The club lotto jackpot of 10000 euro still stands and can be played online via the club force app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday evening draw from any committee member. Last Mondays lucky dip winners were: Ann O’Neill, Tom Delaney, Anne Byrne and Bridget and Eabah C/O John Farrell.
