Tinryland G.F.C. club notes 15th June 2024
The football championship draws took place on Thursday last in the Co. board offices.
Tinryland seniors were drawn in group 1 in the Michael Lyng Motors Carlow S.F.C where the opposition in the four- team group will be Old Leighlin, Mount Leinster Rangers and Bagenalstown Gaels with the opening game against Old Leighlin fixed for the end of August.
In the junior (A) championship Tinryland has been drawn with Ballon, Fighting Cocks and Leighlinbridge with the 1st round fixed at the end of August against Fighting Cocks.
The South East 96 team underage tournament spanning 3 weekends will commence this coming weekend on Saturday and Sunday with the girls U16 and Boys U16 7 a side competition.
On the following weekend 29th and 30th June the U14 girls and boy’s tournament will be held while on the 1st weekend in July the U12 girls and boy’s competition will take place.
The tournament which has attracted entries from the 4 corners of Ireland will be launched in the clubhouse on this coming Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. A feature of this year’s competition will be computerised results and an app so that all clubs and their supporters can keep up to date with the progress of the tournament.
3 of our underage teams were in action in the past week with our two U12 teams winning against Rathvilly and losing to Railyard respectively. Our U14 team had a good win over Eire Og at Rathcrogue on Friday last. In the coming week our two U12 teams will be at home to St Patricks on this coming Thursday 20th June commencing at 6.30 p.m. Tinryland U18 team will be at home to Fenagh on Monday 24th June.
Congratulations to our 2 club members Andrea Dalton and Jim Deane who both successfully contested the recent Carlow Co. council elections.
The club lotto jackpot currently stands at €7600 and can be played online via the clubforce app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday night draw from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were Patrick O’Gorman, Ciara Brady, Cathal O’Toole, and Marion Jeaney.
