   Tinryland G.F.C. Club Notes 26th May 2024

It was a busy week on the underage scene with 5 Tinryland teams in action. On Sunday last our U14 team was involved in a very close game with Clonmore only losing out by the minimum margin on a scoreline of 4-8 to 2-13. Our minor U18 team gained compensation on the following evening when they defeated the same opposition in a high scoring game in Hacketstown by 4-14 to 0-19.

At U14 level Tinryland defeated Michael Davitts on Wednesday last by 4-11 to 3-7. On Friday last both of our U12 teams were away to our near neighbours Palatine with the red team winning and the green team losing out.

In the coming week our minor team will be in action on both Monday and Friday. On Monday 27th May the minors will host Rathvilly with a 7 p.m. throw in while on Friday next 31st May Wicklow area team St. Nicholas will pay their first visit to Rathcrogue with this game also due to start at 7 p.m.

Tinryland U12 team has been invited to the Naas G.F.C. tournament on Sunday 9th June when the opposition will include club teams from Dublin, Kildare, Antrim and Wicklow.

At senior level Tinryland will have only one competitive game between now and the Michael Lyng motors Carlow S.F.C. That game for the S.F.L. Div. 1 shield will be against Palatine on a date to be arranged.

Preparations are ongoing for the 96 team South East underage tournament spanning 6 categories that will take place in Tinryland over 3 weekends in late June and early July. Former deceased stalwarts from our club will be remembered namely Cora Townsend, Mary Dwyer, Ned Hayden, Pat Doyle, Tommy O’Neill and Peenie and Mick Whelan.

The club lotto jackpot currently stands at €7200 and can be played online via the clubforce app or by purchasing a ticket for the Monday night draw from any committee member. Last weeks lucky dip winners were: Tim and Mary Doyle, Niamh Redmond, P.J. Donovan and Marion Jeaney.
