Welcome to this week’s weekly club notes

NOLLAIG SHONA agus Bliain Nua faoi mhaise daoibh go léir. The coiste of Éire Óg Greystones wishes all its members, supporters and friends a Happy Christmas and a Joyful and Prosperous New Year.

AGM Éire Óg Greystones 2014 AGM has come and gone, it was held on Tuesday 9th in the clubrooms and its proceedings would justly earn the description 'a good night's work'. Item 4 on the agenda, the election of officers, is often a long drawn out affair as much time has to be spent cajoling people to take up positions on the coiste. Thankfully that was not the case on Tuesday night. There was a general willingness among the attendance to become involved in the club's administration and it did not take long for the white smoke of election to appear and the cry Habemus Coiste to be heard.

There were 3 motions on the clár and after these had been discussed in an atmosphere of cool maturity, 2 were withdrawn and the one concerning the management of teams was passed.

LOTTO: There was no weekly winner in our final lotto draw before Christmas. The winning numbers were 3, 12, 24 and 26. The lotto takes a hiatus until the New Year where the jackpot will be €6,000. Thanks to all on-line players.

COMHGAIRDEASCHAS to Ciarán 'Mossie' Gaskin who, by default, was handed the tough assignment of refereeing the 2014 Intermediate Hurling Championship Final between Glenealy and Carnew. It did not take long for Ciarán, who has a low tolerance when it comes to the dishonest use of the camán, to exert his authority on the game with his early issuing of a yellow card. Is this the 1st occasion on which Éire Óg, unfortunately not noted for furnishing refs, has had the honour of one of its members refereeing a hurling game at this level?
