Welcome to this week’s club news,
Dave O’Regan Memorial Blitz: Yesterday was a poignant, emotional but fun one at Páric Mhic Shuain-De Barra as we hosted the Dave O’Regan Memorial blitz. Time constraints mean that we couldn’t have a sufficient report in time for this newsletter, but we will give a full reprise next week.
U16 Camogie Team Gallant in Defeat: It wasn’t to be for our U16 camogie team in their effort to win the club’s first ever “A” championship title at this level last Wednesday at Ballinakill. This was a match that could have gone either way, and was super competitive all the way through, with our girls just pipped on a score-line of 2-07:1-06. Hard luck, but well done nevertheless to the team and their mentors. Read a match report. HERE.
Junior Hurling Team Maintain Unbeaten Run: Our junior (second) adult men’s hurling team maintained their 100% championship record when they put seven goals past Kiltegan last Tuesday. Tipperary man Enda Forde did much of the damage, helping himself to four majors. This victory gives them two from two, thanks to their previous win over Kilcoole. They face table toppers Barndarrig at home on Tuesday at 8 pm.
Senior Men’s Footballers in “Must Win” Championship Clash: Our senior men’s footballers are now in “must win” territory. Following two draws and a narrow defeat from their opening three championship matches, they absolutely have to record a victory over Dunlavin.
- Date: Sunday, 10 September
- Time: 1pm
- Venue: Aughrim.
All support welcome.
U13 Hurlers Continue to Advance: As our juveniles return to school, it’s a good time to assess how they progressed over the Summer. One team certainly going in the right direction are our U13 hurlers. On Friday, they put in a really gutsy performance in their second championship match against Glenealy. After a slow start, the team played a storming second half, just coming up short at the end. Onwards and upwards!
Weekly Lotto: The jackpot is moving steadily towards €5,000 as nobody matched all four numbers last week, meaning the jackpot increases. Last week’s magic digits were The weekly cash prize winners were Rian Gonzalez and Sharon Maher. Tickets for tonight’s draw available HERE.
