Welcome to this week’s club news,
County Calling: We’ve always had a proud tradition of club players lining out for various county teams. So far this season both Joe Prendergast and Fintan O’Shea have seen action for the Wicklow Senior men’s footballers and Peter Kean with the senior hurlers.
We also have a big contingent of the Wicklow Minor hurling panel who will represent Wicklow in the Leinster minor hurling championship in March. Club representatives on the panel Alec, Tomas, Josh, Cathal, Tim, Oscar, Daniel, Seamus and Jack were among those who were recently put through their paces at our Strength and Conditioning facility.
Operation Transformation: Don’t forget, we are participating in Ireland Lights Up in conjunction with RTE's Operation Transformation again this year. Every week you can join us for a 5km walk around Greystones. It is a wonderful opportunity to get active in the new year as well as meet new people. We will meet twice weekly, on a Tuesday at 6 pm and a Thursday at 8 pm. We will meet and walk from the clubhouse. Everyone is welcome, if you have any questions, please email childrensofficer.eireoggreystones.wicklow@gaa.ie.
Weekly Lotto: The winning numbers in last week’s draw were 10, 13, 23 & 26. The weekly cash prize winners were Claire Doyle and Emer Marschner. This week’s jackpot is €1,300. Get your tickets HERE.
Ladies Football Local Derby: Great to see two of our local secondary schools; Greystones Community College and St David's competing in Gaelic games. Earlier this week both schools' ladies Gaelic Football teams played each other at our pitch with Greystones Community College just coming out on top. Well done to both teams!
GAA for Dads and Lads: Following the success of Gaelic for Mothers and Others and Caman n Chats last year, the club is looking at rolling out the GAA's version for men called "GAA for Dads and Lads" https://learning.gaa.ie/dadsandlads
GAA for Dads & Lads is a social hurling and football programme for those keen to enjoy Gaelic Games outside the traditional competitive structures of the GAA. With a focus on participation, it offers men who previously played hurling or football – or those keen to lace up their boots for the first time – the opportunity to (re)discover the skills associated with our great games while tapping into the camaraderie and fun.
Initially, we'd like to gauge interest, so we've put together a survey that we're asking people to complete. Please share far and wide https://forms.gle/P1RG1twTakJ7eBxAA
Yours in sport,
