Glory of adult ladies footballers: “There are times when us scribes are prone to some exaggeration in describing a match as cracker of game. The Junior 'C' football decider between Éire Óg and Avoca at Dunbur Park on Sunday was a cracker and that's no overstatement The teams went at it hammer and tongs from start to finish, there was no let up, with the Greystones women escaping with a one-point victory at the finish.” This was the opening paragraph in the Wicklow People from our adult ladies football final. Men’s footballers advance in Leinster: Our adult men’s first team are through to the next round of the Leinster championship. A comprehensive display saw them beat Carlow champions Fenagh last weekend on a score of 1-14:0-06. The lads produced a stunning second quarter that carved open a 1-11 to 0-2 which they never relinquished. They now place Wexford Champions Fethard on Saturday 5 November at 1:30 pm in New Ross. Read a match report HERE. U15 boys footballers win “A” shield: It was another positive end to the season for our boys U15 footballers when they beat Arklow 2-10:2-08 to win the “A” Shield. In a really tight game, the captain, Sean Lehane was the game-winner when he slotted home the all-important second-half goal and Darragh Keogh was awarded man of the match. Read a match report HERE.
Weekly lotto: Please continue supporting our weekly lotto. Last week’s winning numbers were 6, 14, 15 & 21. The weekly cash prize winners were Ashling Carroll and Sarah Farrell. Next Monday’s jackpot is €3,200. Get your tickets HERE. Health club initiative: A new health and well-being initiative for GAA clubs has been launched in County Wicklow which shows players how to mind their mental health and where to find help if they need it. Ours is one of twelve GAA Healthy Clubs across Wicklow which will display health and well-being boards to raise awareness of mental health and well-being supports through the promotion of the 24/7 support and crisis helplines. Our Healthy Club Officer, Ciara Fagan (centre) is presented with our board by David Murray and Denise O'Shea.
