Welcome to this week’s club news,
Patsy Vickers RIP: It’s with great sadness that we have learned of the death of our club President, Patsy Vickers. Patsy’s association with the club stretches back to 1977. Among the many accolades he received was the Wicklow GAA Lifetime Achievement award in 2017 (below). In time, we will provide you with a fuller account of his immeasurable contribution to the club. https://eireoggreystones.com/patsyvickersrip/
As a mark of respect, the club's pitches will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, the 2nd and 3rd of May with no matches and training on either day.
Tomorrow (Tuesday) Patsy's funeral cortege will leave his home at Kindlestown Park at 11.45 am morning walking to Donnybrook Fair and then proceeding to the Holy Rosary Church, via the CIE car park on La Touche Road. We are asking club members to wear club gear and assemble at that car park and walk up to the church with the hearse. After the mass, the hearse will drive to Mill Road and stop at the club for his last visit where club members will also assemble.
Feile: We had both girls and boys U15 football teams in feile qualifiers at the weekend. This consisted of three short games each with the winners proceeding to represent Wicklow at regional and national level. The boys' team notched up good wins against An Tochar and St Nick’s while the girls' team went all the way to the Division 2 final where they were just pipped by Valleymount. Great displays all round.
Weekly lotto: The winning numbers in last week’s lotto draw were 5,8,9 and 14. Nobody matched all four numbers. The weekly cash prize winners were Kenneth Cole and Caoimhe Ní Shúilleabháin. This week’s jackpot is €1,400. Tickets available HERE.
Go Games: We had another action-packed version of our Go Games last Friday. This time, it was hurling and camogie which our U7s and U9s turned their hand to when they hosted teams from St Patrick’s in Wicklow Town.
Time is Running Out to Win a Car for €10: Please do support our national club draw by buying a €10 ticket. We get to keep 100% of all proceeds which will mean we can keep our subscriptions low and continue to improve our facilities. There are lots of great prizes on offer too including a brand-new Dacia Duster. Tickets at https://eireoggreystones.com/national-draw-2022/
Yours in sport,
