Welcome to this week’s club news, Pheilam Byrne: Everyone at the club was shocked and sadden to hear of the death of Pheilam Byrne. Pheilam played hurling for the club and both juvenile and adult level. The club provided a guard of honour at his funeral this week. To his partner Debbie, his son Jaydon, his parents Anto and Louise and his brothers and sisters we express our deepest sympathy. Adult teams in championship action: Both our senior hurlers and footballers face into championship fixtures in the coming days. On Sunday in Aughrim at 6:45pm the footballers open their campaign against St Patrick’s. While on Tuesday, in Arklow at 7:30pm the hurlers play Kiltegan. Ladies footballers make dramatic comeback: With four minutes left and five points behind it looked like it was all over for our adult ladies footballers in the championship match against Clann na Gael. However, some great spirit and no little skill saw them fight back to snatch a dramatic draw. The final score ending 3-14: 4-11. Read match report HERE. Weekly lotto: The winning numbers in Monday’s weekly lotto draw were 5,9,14 & 28. The weekly cash prize winners were Darragh Browne and Joe Mitchell. Next Monday’s jackpot is €12,000. Get your €2 tickets HERE. Minor footballers win again: Our minor boys footballers made it three wins from three when they defeated St Nicholas on Monday on a score line of 4-16:0-10. Remember, the club won the “A” championship last year, so will be looking to retain the title. See some photos from the match HERE. Yours in sport, Daniel English
