Welcome to this week’s club news: Senior hurlers and footballers bow out amid fixtures fiasco: Both our adult men’s hurling and football teams were defeated in the semi-final and quarter finals of their championships respectively at the weekend. The hurlers lost to Glenealy while the footballers fell to Baltinglass. Both teams put in exceptional effort. You can read the match reports HERE. The fact that these important games were played on consecutive days when there are numerous players on both panels is something the club is annoyed about. We expressed our views to the county board but to no avail. Such is the strength of feeling that our and widely respected clubman Dr Brendan Cuddihy has withdrawn his services as doctor to county team following 30 years of duty. You can read his comments HERE.
U 11 hurling finals: Our U11 hurlers are divided into teams. Whenever they play matches, the scores from both games are added up and the overall total is the winner. Last weekend both teams played finals against St Patricks and Aughrim. All 35 of our players saw game time and acquitted themselves manfully. Read accounts of both matches HERE.
Weekly lotto: It’s another roll over week for our weekly lotto. Last week’s winning numbers were 11, 19, 23 & 24. This Monday’s jackpot is €10,400. Must be worth a punt at €2. Tickets available HERE. U15 boys advance to county final: We’ve a county “A” final to look forward to thanks to our U15 boys footballers. They put in a gutsy display to dispatch Baltinglass in the semi-final of the A championship during the week, winning out on a score line of 7-14:1-04. Details of the final TBC, show watch this space!
