Welcome to this week’s club news Senior footballers through to final: The senior footballers had a great victory over Rathnew this week in the semi-final of the Dunne Cup. The pipped the perianal county champions by a point. They now advance to the St Patrick’s of Wicklow Town. Read the match report Juvenile hurling leagues: As part of the u-9/u-11 Autumn hurling leagues Eire Og hosted the Cuala club. The football mentors took advantage of the occasion to play big-ball matches between teams at the same age levels. There was a big overlap of players between the two sports so by the end of the football much of the taispeach (exuberance) had been knocked out of the lads and they returned to their parents happier but hopefully calmer children. Read match report So close for James and Ciaran: You have to feel for James Smullen and Ciaran Demery. They both matched 3 of the four winning numbers in this week’s lotto draw. While this still won them €100 each. Just one more correct number would have given either of them the €12,000 jackpot. Get you tickets at www.eireoggreystones.com U14 hurlers lose final: The North District (Eire Og/Kilcoole plus) played Avondale in the final of the u-14 B Hurling Championship recently. Avondale won by 5 points, not considered a huge gap in hurling, on the score 5-03 to 2-07. Read match report. Ghoulish GAA: The academy finished up last weekend following an incredibly successful year. Every Saturday morning up to 100 children were introduced to GAA. Well done to Amanda O'Boyle, Diarmuid O'Boyle and all their many helpers for all their inspiring work during the year. For the weekend that's in it, they wore some non-traditional GAA gear!
