Welcome to this week’s club news
STRICTLY EIRE OG: Friday night last was Strictly Come Dancing night and Oh! What a night it was, Oh! What a night. Any doubts one might have of this assessment would have been dispersed by a vox pop of the attendees exiting the Killiney Castle hotel after the event. This would have found a universal accord among them of it having been a highly enjoyable spectacle. The overall winners were Jack Commons and Holly Archer.
A huge amount of effort and not a little investment goes into staging a Strictly so it takes a person with entrepreneurial skills to bring it to fruition. Thankfully these are possessed by our Cathaoirleach John Keane.Congrats to John and his team for having achieved the goal for the occasion as expressed in the introduction to the programme The club is deeply cognisant of its indebtedness to the dancers and their sponsors and to Go Gym who were the main sponsors of the night. You can relive it by looking and photos and videos here. http://bit.ly/1UyO8Ov
JUNIOR A FOOTBALL: Our Junior A footballers had their 1st outing in the championship against St Pats in Rathnew on Sunday morning. The final score, 2-14 to 1-09, does not really do our lads’ efforts justice. Behind 1-07 to 0-5 entering the 2nd half they fought back bravely to be just 2 points behind late in the game. And at this stage the possibility of drawing level seemed to be on the cards. Unfortunately they fell victim to a late flurry of St Pat’s scores. Team: Eoin English, Matt Maguire, Mick Walsh, Dermot Blake, Gavin Parslow, Leon Browne, Mick Dunne, Anto Byrne, Dave Behan, James Wood, James Cranley, Eoin McTeague, Brian Lawless, James Smullen, Cian O’Flaherty. Subs.: Mark O’Toole and Glenn Hayden. Next outing Friday next 17th against Bray Emmets.
FEILE FUNDRAISER: As you know our U14 Footballers have qualified to represent Wicklow at this month’s feile in Cork and Kerry. To offset the expense of this, they are holding a concert with the musician Paul J Mills at the Glen of the Downs Golf Club on Friday the 18th. Tickets are €30 which include food and wine. You can get them at the door or from eireogfeile@gmail.com
WEEKLY LOTTO: The winning numbers from Monday, 13 draw were 7, 13, 14 and 22. Three people came very close to scooping the €8,600 jackpot as they matched 3 of the numbers. They share €200.
