Welcome to this week’s club news
PEIL: The senior footballers added another 2 points to their Division 1 buoyancy aid with a 4 point, 2-10 to 1-9, victory over Dunlavin in Dunlavin on Sunday. A critical factor in the Eire Og win was the availability of the county players Darren Hayden, Stephen Chester Kelly, Sam Thompson and Daniel Woods
FEILE U14: Our u-14 footballers, as winners of the County Feile, will be representing Cill Maintain in Feile Peil na nGael which takes place between 24thand 26th June. This involves their travelling to Killarney where they will be hosted by local families. This is quite an enterprise which cannot be funded directly from the clubs financial resources so management have set up a number of fund-raising schemes which include a Tesco bag pack on 10th and 11th June and a Music Night in the Glen of the Downs Golf Club on 17thJune.
PEIL nag CAILINI The u-14 girls entertained their counterparts from Newtown in the league last Thursday evening. As it turned out various circumstances had resulted in the visitors having to field an understrength team so Eire Og had an unexpectedly facile win. See a snap of the team http://bit.ly/1XUBxur
WEEKLY LOTTO: The weekly jackpot just keeps growing and growing. It's now reached the princely sum of 8,200. The winning numbers from this week's draw were; 8,15,19 and 24. Tickets are just 2 and can be bought at www.eireoggreystones.com
STRICTLY EIRE OG: The countdown is on to the big night which takes place on 10th June in the Killiny Castle Hotel. Tickets are at a premium at this stage. You can get them at http://eireoggreystones.com/strictly-come-eire-og-2016/
UNDER 14 HURLING: (Eire Og/Kilcoole) played their third match of the season on Wednesday night in Greystones against another amalgamated team - Avondale/Arklow Rocks. It was an excellent game between two evenly matched sides. Unfortunately, a late flurry of points from Avondale/Arklow had them in front by 3 points at full time, on a scoreline of 2-08 to 1-14.
CAMOGAIOCHT Camogie, like hurling, has a wide range of demanding skills so an early introduction to the game is extremely beneficial to their mastery. It is generally accepted that the playing of matches against outside opposition is an almost necessary means of cultivating and maintaining the interest of modern children in any sport and it is for this reason that Eire Og is participating in a series of u-8 and u-10 blitzes. The Clocha Liatha camogs in these age groups played in their first blitzes of 2016 on Saturday in Avondale. You can imagine the excitement and chatter among these young ladies as they set out for Rathdrum. http://bit.ly/1szKwFh
