Welcome to this week’s club news.

STRICTLY COME ÉIRE ÓG: The participants for the big event are already strutting their stuff. The official lunch will be on the Horse and Hound on 11th May at 8:30

ADULT FOOTBALL: The Division1 footballers defeated Tinahely in Tinahely 3-17 to 0-9, thanks to a scoring spree from Sam Thompson. Unfortunately they followed this with a 1-10 to 0-9 loss to St Pats in Dunbur. The Division3 team lost to Laragh in Laragh on the 24th, 1-14 to 0-6.

ADULT LADIES FOOTBALL IS BACK!  After a hiatus of a couple of years, adult ladies football is back in Greystones. There was a great turnout at tonight's inaugural session. This friendly group of women would love to get some additional players, regardless of experience. Just contact Tracey O'Halloran at 085 7830807 for the low down. http://bit.ly/1TpsA6g

PEIL na gCAILÍNÍ U-12: an embarrassment of riches. As mentioned earlier the number of girls eligible to play at u-12 has grown to 40. However there is a very wide spectrum of abilities.31 girls turned up for last Tuesday's home match against An Tochar. This placed the mentors in an invidious logistical situation: how to give each girl some game time in a 25-minute a-side match? Can't you just imagine it! The trainer trying to manage the team and constantly being followed by the subs, each, as in the Bóthar Charity's ad, asking the question “am I on yet, am I on yet?' Éire Óg won 4-6 to 2-1

CAMÓGAÍOCHT U-14. The weather in Greystones on Monday 25th was far from ideal for the playing of camogie: a blustery wind blew from the northeast and well insulated adults shivered. Yet the gallant girls of the visitors, Avondale, and hosts, Na Clocha Liatha, braved the conditions without complaint and served up a thoroughly enjoyable game of camogie. The name Young Irelanders (Éire Óg) is particularly apt for this particular team as the average age of the girls is much nearer 12 than 14. It was not surprising then that Avondale ran out deserving winners. http://bit.ly/1NZHVy0

JUNIOR HURLING Last year Éire Óg, on their way to the final of the Junior B Championship which incidentally they lost to a strong Kiltegan team, defeated St Pats. So revenge was very much a motivating factor for hosts St Pats who were at full strength in the recent league match. By contrast the Greystones team was missing some key players and the team that took to the field was a motley collection consisting of some veterans seduced out of retirement, together with the return of a few lost souls who donned the jersey to ensure the game was played. Result: a tough night at the office ensued and St Pats ran out very comfortable winners

FUNDRAISING Winning numbers for Lotto on the 25th were 4, 6, 8, and 16. 'Chester' was included in Match 3 winners. This week's jackpot is 7400euro.
