Minors Div 1 League
Athlone 1-12 St. Lomans, Mullingar 0-12
Congratulations to our Minors who defeated St Lomans in the Div 1 League.
All go for Athlone U8’s.
Athlone U8’s hosted their second ‘Go-games’ blitz recently when they welcomed the young footballers of Tubberclair and Maryland-Tang to Pairc Chiarain. In perfect conditions for football, over 60 young footballers participated in the blitz with each team playing 3 matches.
The Athlone lads continue to progress nicely with the big improvement evident in both tackling and teamwork especially pleasing as these have been worked on recently in training. A big thanks to all who helped out with the smooth running of the blitz and with sandwiches etc.
The bank-holiday weekend offered a break from training but it’s back to normal this coming Sunday May 13th at 11.30am. New boys and girls always welcome. Our next blitz is also at home on Saturday May 26th when we will welcome Caulry, Rosemount and Tubberclair.

Turas Programme
Our U8 and U 10 coaches attended a coaching course last Thursday held in Garrycastle. It is part of a Leinster Council Turas Programme. Following on from the 2 hour coaching course a number of Leinster Council GAA coaches will be attending our U8 and U10 training to assist and offer advice. They will be attending on Wednesday May 16th and 23rd.
U14 Girls Feile Final
Well done to our U14 Girls on getting to the Division 2 final of the Westmeath Ladies Féile after a great win in the semi-final over Ballycomoyle. The games took place on Tuesday May 1st in Kinnegad, and Athlone put in a great performance to beat a strong Ballycomoyle side. Having suffered some injuries in the Semi-final the girls came up against a very strong Milltownpass side and unfortunately were unable to overcome Miltownpass despite a great effort and performance by all throughout the pitch. Well done to all the girls.

Club Gear:
There will be limited supply of jerseys, shorts, socks, half zip training tops, beanie hats and gear bags on sale between 11am-1pm in the Clubhouse. We will also be taking orders for new stock. Also anyone who hasn’t yet registered can do so in the Clubhouse on Sunday between 11-1pm or contact Teresa Small at 087 6799472
Bingo:
Bingo takes place in the Clubhouse every Thursday at 8.30pm. Loads of cash prizes. Everyone Welcome.
