U10 Girls Blitz in Pairc Chiarain

On Monday 23rd April Athlone GAA hosted an Under 10 football blitz in Pairc Chiarain.  There were almost 100 girls playing with teams from Athlone, Caulry, Garrycastle, Goldsmith Girls, Moate and St. Josephs.  There was a lot of skill and determination on display with the girls showing off their developing football skills. Well done girls and keep up the good work. It is great to see you put in practice all the skills you have been learning and many thanks to the visiting mentors for the excellent sporting displays.  The Athlone team were: Leah Durkan, Ailbhe Dywer, Katie Gibbons, Emma Killian, Eabha McGlynn, Ella McGowan, Claire McNamara, Amy Moran, Ruby O’Leary, Millie Quinn Doyle, Sofia Rizza, Ciara White, Lauryn Carolan, Sinead Carney, Amber Barker, Sally Ann Joyce, Kellie McLoughlin and Leah Berrigan.

Thanks to everyone who helped to run a very successful evening and to our resident Photographer Padraig Devaney, see photos on Athlone GAA Official facebook page.

U10 Boys Blitz

The U9/10’s kicked off the start of the Westmeath GO Games in style on Tuesday evening in Ballynacargy  in tough playing conditions.  First up was a spirited Milltownpass team but were out muscled and defeated  by a very strong committed Athlone side.  Athlone 2-6 Milltownpass 1-2.

Our second game was a much more hotly contested game against stiff opposition in the shape of Coralstown/Kinnegad.  The first half was a close affair, but strong work ethic and some excellent football displayed by our Athlone boys was to prove the difference in the end.

Athlone 3-7 Coralstown/Kinnegad 3-1.  On the night every player showed great determination and there was some fine displays of scoring and defending on show.

The Athlone team on the night: Oisin Donoghue , Conlaith Feeney, Fiachra Feeney, James Geoghegan, Aaron Hardiman, Shane Killian, Conor Lough, Adam Manning, Ódhran Mitchell, Pinnak Mishra, Finn McCormack, Conor Neale, Szymon Skoclen, Senan Snow, Joshua Ukatu, Eoin Whelan...#HONTHEBLUE....
