This week sees the start of the Dublin Feile Competitions which is a really important event for our Under 14 boys & girls teams.  The Boys Hurling Feile takes place on Saturday 21st April out in Townparks, Skerries.  The lads are competing at Division 3 Hurling. They will compete in Group B and matches are as follows:  10.30 Good Counsel v St Sylvesters; 11.45 O'Tooles A v Good Counsel; 13.00 Skerries Harps v Good Counsel.  The Semi Finals take place on the Saturday at 4pm - Pairc Mearnóg will host Winner Group A v Runner Up Group B and Townparks will host the Winner Group B v Runner Up Group A.  The management and team would really love your support on the day.   The best of luck to the lads.  We would encourage people to get out and support the team.  Please note that the compulsory Safeguarding Course is fast approaching in the club. It is free to club members and spaces are filling up (max 30 people on one night).  The dates are: 27th April @ 19:00 - 21:00 and the 4th May @ 19:00 - 21:00.   If you have not already confirmed your attendance for one of these dates, please contact our club secretary secretary.goodcounsel.dublin@gaa.ie immediately.  Yet again the weather has had a big impact on team’s preparations for matches with all areas of Galty being deemed unplayable.  We would ask team managers to make alternative arrangements for training.  We have been able to use Walkinstown Avenue Park for some juvenile matches and we would ask teams not to do their warm up on the pitch area. Let’s hope the weather will improve this week! Over the last 2 weeks, we have been publishing some photos “From the archives…” on our club Facebook page @goodcounselgaa.  We are very lucky that we have lots of photographs taken over the past 10+ years by our photographer David Conway but in the years previous to that we wouldn’t have been that great for taking photos. So this is where we need your help. We are working on getting all the old photos scanned and published to location that will be accessible from our club website, this will take some time to complete but we hope to have more news about that in the coming months.  In the meantime, if anybody has old photos of teams or photos that will interest our club members we would love the get a copy of them for our archives.  You can email a scanned copy of the photos to pro.goodcounsel.dublin@gaa.ie or alternatively leave them in the club bar in an envelope with your contact details marked for the attention of Deirdre Conway, PRO and she will return them once they have been scanned.  Please follow our club Facebook page to keep up to date on all our club news.
