Our U14's has a great weekend at the Feile with hosting Moycarkey Borris GAA Club  from Tipperary. Although the results on the pitch didnt go our way, it was a good learning experience. Thanks again to all the families who hosted lads, and a Massive big thanks to Sadie Davoren, Claire Power, Jo McDonagh and every one of the mothers who fed and made our visitors very welcome.

Hurling News

Results

The results last week were mixed. On Wednesday night, the U16 team faded to allow Annaghdown to score 1-02 in the final minutes to snatch a two point victory 1-11 to 2-10. Meanwhile on the next pitch the U12s were giving the present Carnmore U12 group to their first ever experience of defeat in all competitions by the same margin. On Thursday, in the refixed game in Killimordaly, it was a bad start our Minors needed to recover from as two goals either side of halftime left them with an 11 point mountain to climb. They delivered an exhibition in point scoring but the all important goal that was needed eluded them and they lost 3-13 to 1-15. Many of the same players were on duty again on Friday against Pearses in Junior B in Carnmore. A slow start compounded by a second yellow card before halftime for Michael Hurney meant the game was always an uphill struggle. The 14 men reduced the margin from 8 to 5 points and held Pearses scoreless for a long period of the second half but the team tired late on and Pearses ran out comfortable winners 2-15 to 0-07. Saturday saw an U11 selection travel to play Clara on the way to Tullamore, where they acquitted themselves well. On Monday night, needing to win to keep hope alive, the U16's took on Ballygar and survived a second half fightback to win 3-14 to 2-13.

Upcoming
Both U13 in A1 and U16 in C have decisive fixtures this week. U13 travel to Killimordaly on Wednesday and host Sarsfields next Monday needing one point to secure a semi final place. Both opponents are undefeated thus far. Similarly, U16's travel to Carnmore on Thursday to force a playoff for a semi final spot. A win will secure top spot for Carnmore so it is a tough assignment. There is a suggestion of a Minor re-fixture on Sunday evening vs Michael Cusack's.

Remember the Centra Hurling Fun Day takes place on Sunday 13th July. The event is free as with last year and we hope we have the same level of activities, fun and food as the large attendance enjoyed last year. It kicks off a big week in the calendar as the CUL CAMP starts on Monday 14th.
