Rowing news:
Well everyone has seen by now the amazing success of our rowing squad in Tokyo this past few days. It is so great to see so much coverage and attention in the media about our sport. A huge congratulations to all involved, athletes, coaches and back up staff from all at SMRC.
SMRC's own David Foley has been selected to compete in this year's 's Junior World Championships in Bulgaria this month. David is selected in the mens quadruple sculls. The crew were initially selected to compete at the Coupe de la Jeunesse but based on time trials at the NRC, Rowing Ireland coaches decided they were fast enough for the Worlds. Well done David and all who helped to get him this far. Long may it continue.
Meanwhile on the domestic front the Limerick Junior Festival of Rowing took place this weekend in O’Brien’s Bridge. SMRC had lots of winners: MJ14 8x, MJ14 4x, WJ16 4x, WJ164+, WJ16 8, WJ14 4X. Well done to all involved, they are the stars of the future. Finally, well done to the Limerick Regatta Committee for organising such a great event at the weekend!
