Rowing News:
Our next long distance trip is to Castleconnell Regatta on May 19th.
After that it's the British National Schools Regatta at Eton-Dorney Lake.
Social & Fundraising:
Thank you to all our volunteers for the Great Limerick Run, raising much need funds for the club, and well done to those who competed.
On Monday, May 14th at 6:30pm we will run our annual sculling challenge which is a memorial race for Brennie Murphy and Robert Manning.
- The sculling race is open to club members from all ages and ability but bear in mind we have a limited number of sculling boats!
- Competitive squad scullers can please contact your coaches to secure an entry spot and all others can please contact both Kev and the Captain.
- Time handicaps will be applied based on age/ability.
- The race runs from The White Light to the Clubhouse.
- We have a perfect evening tide and fingers crossed the weather will be with us. Plan B might be to run the event on Tuesday, May 15th.
- Safety launches and marshals will be in place and there will be a safety briefing prior to launching which all competitors must.
- Winners will be presented with the much coveted St Michaels Rowing Club tie pin.
Tea and Coffee will be available and it would be great to see all our St Michael’s members in the club to help celebrate the lives and memories of Brennie and Robert.
Table Quiz
Thursday May 17th in Shannon Rowing Club. Don't forget to break into your piggy bank and set aside €10 for your ticket to the SMRC Table Quiz here for one night only in Shannon RC. Get out the encyclopedias and start filling those brains.
We’re well on our way in ‘Captain Richie’s €10K fundraising challenge’. We’re already approaching the €4 mark! Let’s keep up the outstanding work over the next few weeks.
Oh and there’s the little item of our trip to the British Schools Regatta at the London Olympic venue at Eton Dorney at the end of May. The logistics are almost done & we’re looking forward to taking the show on the road.
