Pontoon News:
The Club has started work on our most ambitious capital project ever, the building of a new state-of-the-art floating pontoon slip in O’Callaghan Strand. See the illustration below. The new slip will allow us to launch several boats simultaneously as well as being a major improvement from a rower safety and boat handling perspective.
Work has already started with the removal of our old slip and preparations for the pilings for the new slip are now underway. The foundations for the piles were completed this week. The entire project including the installation of the access gantry and pontoons should be complete by the end of March, just in time for Spring rowing.
It's a very exciting time for SMRC and we need all the support we can muster. Please support our fundraising efforts now more than ever.
We are very grateful for our support so far, especially for this project. We're almost there!!
Update:
The foundations for the piles are finished and the nest step is fitting the piles themselves, as soon as the next suitable tides come in less than a week. Happy days!
Rowing News:
We'll done to the 2nd yr Laurel Hill Colaiste girls for participating in our 4 week schools programme. The girls were introduced to rowing in a fun and challenging environment.
We look forward to welcoming all the 2nd yr students from Laurel Hill School, on 1st Feb.
