GAA County Nicknames:

Cavan: “The Breffni County”

Cavan is also known as The Lake County (you’ve got some competition there, Westmeath!) But its primary nickname is due to the fact that what is now known as Cavan was once the seat of the medieval kingdom of East Breffni in the later Middle Ages.

Groaner of the Week:

What did the right eye say to the left eye? Honestly, between you and me something smells.

Riddle of the Week:

I have a head and a tail that will never meet. Having too many of me is always a treat. What am I?

Seanfhocail na Seachtain:

“Gheobhaidh foighne fortacht.”

“Everything comes to him that waits.”

This or That:

Pick between the two items below and see if you’re right.

How many times did Afghanistan change its national flag in the 20th century: 7 times or 18 times?

On This Day: On this day in 1146 European leaders outlaw the use of the crossbow. Their intention being to end all wars!

Brain Teaser:

A California farmer owns a beautiful pear tree. He supplies the fruit to a nearby grocery shop. The store owner calls the farmer to see how much fruit is available for him to buy. The farmer knows the main trunk has 24 branches. Each branch has exactly 12 boughs and each bough has exactly 6 twigs. Since each twig bears one piece of fruit, how many plums will the farmer be able to deliver?
