GAA County Nicknames:

Limerick: “The Treaty Men”

While Limerick GAA supporters are occasionally referred to as The Shannonsiders (another river-related nickname!) the team’s most well-known name is a reference to the Treaty of Limerick in 1691, which marked the end of the Siege of Limerick.

Groaner of the Week:

Did you know that ants are the only animals that don't get sick? It's true! It's because they have little antibodies.

Riddle of the Week:

Pronounced as one letter, and written with three, two letters there are, and two only in me. I’m double, I’m single, I’m black blue and grey, I’m read from both ends, and the same either way. What am I?

Seanfhocail na Seachtain:

“Fada iarsma an drochbhirt.”

“Long is the aftermath of the evil deed.”

This or That:

Pick between the two items below and see if you’re right.

What is the winter population of Antarctica: 12 or 1,100?

On This Day: On this day in 1690 King William of Orange defeated King James at the Battle of the Boyne.

Brain Teaser:

One night, a woman receives a call from the police. They tell her that her husband was murdered, and she should come to the crime scene as soon as possible. The woman drops the phone, shocked, and drives 20 minutes to the crime scene. As soon as she reaches the crime scene, the police arrest her and she is convicted of murder. How do the police know she committed the crime?

Answers to this week’s puzzles:

Riddle of the Week: An eye

‘This or That’: 1,100. Antarctica’s population (mainly scientific researchers) varies from 1,100 in winter to 4,400 in summer.

Brain Teaser: The police didn’t tell her where the crime scene was, yet she already knew where to go.
