Message from the Portmarnock Lions Club
Portmarnock Lions Club having recognised the difficulties that some of our local residents may be having with cocooning or who are possibly vulnerable have arranged for three meals to be delivered totally free of charge each Tuesday to all of these people. In excess of 180 meals which are sourced from a company owned by a local Portmarnock family, Kilbride Classic Cuisine (www.kilbridecc.com), each week and are delivered with the assistance of volunteers from our local GAA Club, Naomh Mearnog.
The people that we deliver to have expressed their delight with our effort and many messages of thanks and support have been received from them and their families. Plans have been put in place to continue this service while the Covid-19 pandemic continues to impact on our country.
This initiative is in line with the ethos of Lions International where every euro or food donation that is collected goes directly to beneficiaries. We are very grateful to our local GAA Club and Kilbride Classic Cuisine for their support to us in this project. A special thank you to the club executive under Chairperson Cecil Ryan and to Danny Harrington who co-ordinated the volunteers Louise Conlon, Caoimhe McDermott, Aisling Davy, Caroline Forristal and Paul Sweeney. Also appreciation to Tanya Connaughton from the Lions Club.
