NEWTOWN BLUES MEN-  LOUTH SENIOR CHAMPIONS 2019

Well done to the Senior Men's team and management on a great win in the Louth Club championship securing a 3 in a row for the club. This marks the 23rd c'ship win  a record in the county. The support that the team have received from all sponsors has been fantastic along with all the supporters that came along on Sunday and proved they were the 16th man.

We were also delighted to see all the young boys and girls proudly wear their club colours for the guard of honour and half time exhibition games.

Thanks to all that supported and assisted the team in their journey to this historic milestone. We now focus on preparations for the Leinster competition where we will face the Dublin champions on 9/10th November.

At juvenile level we are coming to a close with just the U14 Girls & U15 boys remaining in competition. The girls have a shield final replay and the boys are still in group games of the U15 league.

Our U13 boys we unlucky in their Div 1A league final on Monday night in Darver as they took on a very handy St. MAry's of Ardee in the final. The lads showed great character as St. MAry's established early control of the game but the blues lads never stopped until the final whistle. In the end it was the Mary's that were more clincial with their scoring opportunities giving them a comfortable win.

Our U12 girls finished their Patsy Thornton competition at the semi stages having won the U12 DIv 2 shield the previous week. The Patsy Thornton competition was established by the Newtown Blues last year to give more football to the growing numbers of girls playing throughout the county. Last year we had 4 teams in the competition and this year we've grown to 8 clubs and had a cup & shield winner. Thanks to the Thornton Family for their support of this competition as we remember fondly our former Blues stalwart Patsy.

This year was a special one as Patsy’s grandaughter was part of the Mattock team that played Naomh Mairtin in the Cup Final and came out winners by just a point in a cracking game that resulted in extra time. This was followed by the Shield final with St.Nicholas v St. Joesph’s which also resulted in extra time with the Joes finishing on top.

Well done to all teams that took part in this competition and the Blues mentors that arranged the competition:  Newtown Blues, St. Fechins, Wolfe Tones, St. Nicholas, O'Raghallaigh's/Oliver Plunketts, St. Joesph's, Naomh Mairtin & Mattock Rangers.

Thank you for your continued support.
