Other News:
The U7's Boys and Girls hosted their last blitz of the season on Sunday morning. The teams showed how much they all have learned this season and played great team football with lovely passages of link play. Hard luck to our Ladies that finished out their championship runs this week. It's been a strange few weeks for the senior ladies management and the team and we appreciate all the time and effort that everyone put in this year.
Saturday saw the U14 Boys put in a great shift against the Dreadnots in their championship encounter in Clogherhead. However, the lads had a slow start in the first half which left them with a lot of work in the 2nd half to close the gap that just didn't happen. They played great team football showing great skill and discipline. Final Score: Newtown Blues 2-5; Dreadnots 7-7
The U11 Boys were in great form on Friday night as they played St. Mochtas. The team worked the ball up the field for some fantastic scores. There was great support all over the pitch with each player making a great contribution to play.
On Thursdays the U12 Girls had a great contest at home hosting St. Brides. This game came to life in the 2nd half with both teams working hard to get the scores and unfortunately our girls missed out by the narrowest of margins. Final Score Newtown Blues 0-5; St. Brides 1-3.
On Wednesday the U16 girls finished the c'ship run with a convincing win over St. Fechins. The girls laid down their marker at the start of the match with an early goal and continued on with great determination and teamwork to finish out with a comprehensive win. Final Score: Newtown Blues 7-3; St. Fechins 1-11.
On Monday the U14 Girls found the start of their championship run tough going in Lordship as they took on St. Pats. The girls looked to be in control in the early stages of the first half but just couldn't convert their scores despite many shots on goal. The Pats got into the game after a goal and pushed on to finish on top. Final Score: Newtown Blues 1-4; St. Patricks 8-8.
Our Minor girls competition will be starting in Oct and the U12-14 Boys mentors plan to keep 1 session going for this age group over the winter months. More details to follow.
Feile 2018 We will be entering an U14 Boys and an U14 Girls team in the Feile competition in June 2018. This is a great event for all involved and Louth, Meath & Down are the hosts in 2018.
