GAA Co-Founder, John McKay of Down - 100 Year Anniversary Talk

This is a FREE event and there will be refreshments
To mark the centenary of the death of John McKay, the RGU along with Down GAA are hosting a talk by the renowned historian Dr Dónal McAnallen on Sunday 3rd December at 7.30pm at the RGU Clubhouse in Downpatrick.
John McKau was the only Ulster man among the seven founders of the GAA who met in Hayes' Hotel in Thurles on 1 November 1884. He was also one of the first three General Secretaries along with Michael Cusack and John Wyse Power.
McKay was born at Cargagh, Downpatrick in 1852 and died in London on 2nd December 1923. His life, his role in the GAA, and his family is a fascinating story.
