SENIOR FOOTBALL

Our Senior Ladies played Bredagh on Friday evening at Páirc Tomás Rusíel and put on a display that showed how well they’ve embraced a return to senior football. A much improved performance since the first match of the season. Unfortunately, a late goal and two points from Bredagh in the last few minutes widened the gap. Nevertheless, a great game.

Final Score: RGU 5.05 Bredagh 4:18

Our Senior Men were on the road again this week with a match at St. Patrick’s Park, Bryansford.

After a slow first half, the team led by two points at the break. But Bryansford came out of the blocks quickly, and a goal put them a couple of points ahead midway through the second half. The RGU men hit back and as the match came to the final minutes, they led by a point. Numerous chances to put the game to bed weren’t taken and eventually Bryansford came back with a free at the end.

Final Score: RGU 1.10 Bryansford 0.13

PROMOTING GAELIC GAMES IN SCHOOLS

We’re committed to engaging children in sport in a bid to keep their bodies and minds fit and healthy. As part of this commitment, and our efforts to promote Gaelic Games, we introduced:

  • Primary school Blitz;
  • the ‘Daily Gaelic – 6 week challenge’ for local schools; and
  • school visits

The Daily Gaelic Challenge invited local schools to take-up the challenge of learning new skills each week – but more importantly, to have some fun.

This week saw Paul McAlinden taking a coaching session at St.Brigid’s Primary School, and next week we’re at St.Colmcille’s Primary School as part of our school visits.

It’s really encouraging to see the schools embrace Gaelic Games and lovely to see the enjoyment the children get from it.
