So sad to hear tonight of the passing of Mary-Lou Mullen, wife of our past President and former player John, and mother of past player Dermot. Mary-Lou and John have been great supporters of RGU over many years and in all the years I knew her, Mary-Lou was a very gentle and courteous person who only saw the good in people and enjoyed a good laugh. A true lady. She will be missed by all who knew her but especially by John, Dermot, Jill Connor, Jude and Tess.

U-11.5 East Down Leagues. Great performance from all the boys playing at home against Bredagh. They worked hard from start to finish to come away with the win in tough conditions. Some fantastic football and scores during the game. Well done boys! The team playing away to St Paul’s put in a great performance, in difficult conditions, to post another big score while restricting their opponents to a few scores. The boys defended really well and scored some great goals and points. Well done boys!
Plenty of action this morning at Páirc Tomás Ruséil this morning at the first P4&5 Go Games of the year. RGU fielded 4 teams and our visitors Carryduff brought 3 teams. Great to see everyone enjoying themselves. Go Games are a very important part of player development at this age, this is the first introduction to organised East Down matches. Many thanks to Carryduff for coming down and to all the mentors, refs and everyone who assisted this morning. Much appreciated.
An good performance tonight from the Hoops in rd 2 of Corn an Duin as they ran out 18 pt winners against Bredagh. The 2nd quarter was the key as the lads racked up 8 unanswered points to take a 10 point lead at the break. The second half continued in much the same vein, Downpatrick running out comfortable winners in the end. Early days and plenty for both teams to work on. Well done to Tom McNeill who made a brilliant debut tonight.
Next match in 2 weeks’ time away to Clonduff. Final score RGU 2:19, Bredagh 0:07.
A less successful evening for our Senior Reserves and our Senior Ladies teams. The Reserves were at home to Clonduff and despite a very promising start they fell to a 7 pt defeat on a scoreline of RGU 0:13, Clonduff 2:14.
The Ladies played out a tough physical low scoring match in Kilcoo which ended in a draw. Despite a few yellow cards and injuries the Hoops had a last gasp chance to win but the Kilcoo keeper managed to scramble the ball to safety. Final score Kilcoo 2:03, RGU 1:06.
Minor ladies certainly put last weeks narrow defeat behind them with a fantastic display of football at Saval GAC. From start to finish the ladies played as a team getting scores that any county team would be proud of. Well done to younger u15 ladies who made their debut tonight. Final score RGU 7 :10 Saval 0:4
Tough night at the office for both teams tonight in the East Down U13 leagues ( Sponsored by CM Prevision Ltd). The Div 1 affair saw the boys come up against a much bigger and more physically powerful Bryansford team who played some excellent football. Nevertheless the boys put in a fighting shift but came up short on the night. Similarly in the Div 3 game against Loughinisland A team, the boys battled hard but the home team pulled away for a convincing victory.
