Last Sunday RGU held the Annual General Meeting, unfortunately much later than anticipated and via Zoom due to the continuing Covid-19 restrictions. Chairperson, Edel Curran and Club Secretary, Colm McNeill reflected on what was a most trying year for everyone. The year ahead looks like it will be much similar, but we hope to be in a better position to update our members and friends as soon as local Government agree the procedure for moving out of the lockdown and followed by the publication from the GAA setting out their roadmap.
Edel thanked all our mentors and players for their dedication and patience during a difficult season as well as everyone who supported the club in any way at all during the year, including those who play our lotto, bought club draw tickets, together with our sponsors.
The incoming committee was elected as follows:
Chairperson: Edel Curran, Secretary: Donna Fitzpatrick, Treasurer: Paul Kelly, Registrar: Conor Curran, and PRO John Murphy.
Additional Members elected were: Paddy Rice, Martin Brady, Tonia Byrne, Colm McNeill, Paul McAlinden, Alison Dowd, Jenny Fitzsimons and Brenda Murphy.
Roisin Polly and Steven Dowd were appointed Children’s Officer and Officer for Irish Language and Culture respectively.
It would be remiss of us at RGU not to acknowledge Colm McNeill for the 25 years of unbroken service through all the senior positions of club administration. Colm stepped down as secretary on Sunday night after delivering his annual report.
A man of immense dedication and commitment Colm brought a quiet efficiency to everything he did at the club. Never one to seek the limelight or praise, Colm just gets on with the job in hand. His thumb print is etched in every major development at RGU over the past quarter of century. However, he hasn’t walked away completely and will undoubtedly be a great mentor to Donna Fitzpatrick who has taken over as Club secretary. Go raibh maith agat a Cholm.
This week’s lotto numbers drawn by Roisin Polly were: 10, 17, 27 & 28. There was no jackpot winner, and four shared in the £100. They were Susan Walsh, Paddy Rice, Donna Fitzpatrick and April Leckey. Next week’s Jackpot is now £3400. Thank you for your continued support.
