It was tough luck on the Down Hurlers, playing in the Christy Ring Cup Final, in Croke Park on Sunday 22nd November. They lost to Kildare by three points. Goals were the difference as Kildare prevailed on a scoreline of 3:16 to 0:22. RGU’s Tim Prenter had a great game, with his pace and poise, he scored a tally of four points. This was a difficult year for everyone, but it was a great season for the Down hurlers in reaching the final.
Tickets for the club draw 2021 are now available from any committee member and we would ask any club member or parent of a juvenile player to support this draw which along with our lotto has proved to be a veritable lifeline for our club in a very challenging year. The prize fund for 2021 is again £110,000, with the ticket price £120. Payment can be paid in full or by monthly £10 instalments. RGU Club membership for 2021. The executive have drawn up a payment plan for the new the season and details will be released over the next few weeks.
We would like to take this opportunity to send our best wishes to club stalwart Nishy Wynn who is currently in hospital awaiting a procedure. An ever-present round Pairc Tomas Ruiseil we are looking forward to having him back soon.
PTR was lit up on Saturday evening to mark 100 years since the killing of 14 people in Croke Park on the 21st November 1920 in what became to be known as Bloody Sunday. GAA grounds across the country were lit up as an act of remembrance whilst members placed lighted candles in their windows from 19:20 until 20:20. By a remarkable coincidence and against all odds the same 4 counties have won their Provincial Championship this year as happened 100 years ago: Dublin, Tipperary, Cavan and Mayo.
This week’s lotto numbers drawn by Roisin Polly were: 12, 19, 20 and 27. There was no jackpot winner but there was one ticket that matched three numbers. Congratulations to Amanda Coyle. Next week’s Jackpot is £2200. Thank you for your continued support
