Championship time already, with both our Seniors and Junior A teams out in Seneschalstown.
SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP:
The seniors played Simonstown in the first round of this group B encounter in Seneschalstown on Sunday afternoon. A tough game played at championship intensity, with plenty of hard hits, Skryne started brightly and lead by 0-7 to 0-4 at half time. However Shane O' Rourke of Simonstown scored the only goal in the second half and left the game on a knife edge for the last 10 minutes of the game in what was a closely contested final quarter.
The result a Draw Simonstown 1-8, Skryne 0-11
JUNIOR A CHAMPIONSHIP:
The junior A team lined out immediately after with depleted squad due to mostly injuries and some "Ash" casualties.
Although they had only 15 players, the juniors gave Dunsany a fright in the first 35-40 minutes of the game. With the backs playing well as a unit, and Kevin Reilly fielding well in the middle, Skryne looked on the way to a deserved win, however with no fresh legs on the sideline, it was not to be and Dunsany sailed ahead in the final quarter.
The team must be commended for their passion & effort they put in on the pitch.
The Blotto numbers were: 28, 16, 1, 20
There was no winner of Jackpot, but four winners of lucky dip.
