Kilmainhamwood hosted Bective in the fourth round of the AFL3 on Sunday 1st April. The ‘Wood played some quality football in the first half and showed lots of heart and determination and were unlucky to trail by the minimum at the break 0-6 to 0-5. The second half resumed with the ‘Wood drawing level early on and had a goal chance well saved at the expense of a point by Bective keeper. However, the limitations in the squad proved their achilles’ heal when there were not able to replace a number of players who began to struggle with injuries and fatigue. Bective added 2-7 in the last 15 minutes to run out comfortable winners 2-18 to 1-09. Best for the Wood were Derek McDonald in goals, Ray Madden and Michael Shankey at midfield the Russell twins David and Damien and top scorer Steven Kiernan
K-wood - D McDonald, R Corbally, P Barber, S Russell, H Corbally 0-1, S Mulligan, E Clarke, R Madden, M Shankey, J Keogan, David Russell 0-2, D Farrelly, P Carolan, S Kiernan 1-4, Damien Russell 0-2. Subs - N McCabe for David Russell.
