The Kilmainhamwood U-10s had fantastic 0-11 to 0-3 win over Drumconrath on Monday 3rd. The margin of victory could & should have been much greater because the team performance was fantastic.
The team lined out with John McCreevy in goals with Niall Bennett & Cian Murphy the two solid full-backs. Declan Reilly & Dean Carolan were the two hard-working half-backs with Jamie Fagan & Brian Cassidy working tirelessly ar lar na pairce. Niall Conlon & Callum Crosbie made up the inspiring half-forward line with Sean Bennett & Keith Reilly the deadly full-forwards.
From the throw-in the K-wood lads set about their tasks with gusto. Niall Conlon was putting the strings in the half forward line and played in Calum Crosbie for the opening score. Keith Reilly was lively at full-forward and Sean Bennett was always available. Jamie Fagan then found the back of the net with a brilliant catch & run from mid-field. Brian Cassidy called for and claimed a super ball in his own half and played a great ball up to Niall Conlon who finished to the back of the net with great skill. Niall Bennett was first to ever ball the rare time it did come his way. The Wood were well on top all over the field at this stage and Niall Conlon finished the half with a great point to give the Wood a 0-4 to -02 lead at the interval.
The second half started as the first finished with Niall Conlon & Calum Crosbie getting a couple of point each. Brian Cassidy also got the point that his performance deserved. Declan Reilly really came into the game when moved to midfield for the last ten minutes. With a few minutes to go management unloaded the bench and Dylan Owens, Jonathan Reilly, Killian Plunkett, Ordhan Keogan, Oisin Reilly & Jack Murphy all contributed to the superb victory.
