Dunshaughlin Supporters Chilled But Thrilled!!.... as the U19 men freeze out Jenkinstown Gaels in the semi-final of the Coolrite U19 football championship
On a night where the temperature officially read 1°C but felt closer to -5°C, Dunshaughlin battled both the elements and a defensive Jenkinstown Gaels team to book their spot in the U19 Division 3 final.
Jenkinstown Gaels came into the match with a clearly defensive mindset, limiting the space for Dunshaughlin's forwards . Their defensive setup frustrated the black and amber side, who struggled to break down the Gaels' defence. As a result, the match became a low-scoring affair, with both teams finding it difficult to register points, but by half-time in this thrilling semi-final, Dunshaughlin led the Gaels 0-3 to 0-2,
After a tight first half, Dunshaughlin started strong following the break, with Jeff Foley expertly slotting the ball into the bottom.right hand corner , the goal now giving Dunshaughlin the edge in what was still a low scoring game.
The fresh substitutes arrived and instantly boosted the team’s energy, and suddenly, everything seemed to click.
Then As the final whistle blew, Dunshaughlin celebrated a gritty 1-7 to 0-6 victory, sealing their spot in the final in two weeks’ time. Let’s hope the temperature rises slightly before then—both for the players and the frozen supporters!
