Feile

Well done to the Parcel Concierge  sponsored U15 Boys who got to the final of Feile Peil na nOg at Dunshaughlin on Sunday 19th of May.

In the semi-final we came up against a very tactical Oldcastle Juvenile GAA  side and the boys had to figure out on the pitch how to break down a sweeper system. Oldcastle got off to a fast start with a goal slightly against the run of play, but Dunshaughlin fought their way back into the game with a goal from Cian O Donnell just before half time. Two good points from Bobby Collins & Eoghan McCarthy closed out the match and we headed to the final to meet St. Colmcilles GAA Club  (who were victorious against Donaghmore / Ashbourne in the other semi-final).

A fortuitous goal for Cilles after 3 minutes of the final; when an attempt for a point looped into the net meant we were always chasing this match. Cilles are a physically big team and were strong in the tackle, but we never gave up and fought our way back into the match. We had most of the possession for the second quarter but couldn’t break through for the goal we needed. We scored two good points and turned at half time down by that one goal. A solitary point from Conor McTigue in the 2nd half was all we could manage and Cilles added on a goal from play and another from a penalty to close out the match.

All in all a very positive experience for our boys over the last two weekends. It’s never easy losing a final and the lads were disappointed, but Our boys in the black and amber 🖤💛showed some great determination, spirit and with their positive attitude, no doubt it will help them to develop resilience and bounce back and ready to finish out their league campaign.

It’s a big effort to run a blitz over two weekends and it can’t be done without a huge effort behind the scenes.

Thanks to Pat Maloney and Jim Gilligan who had the pitches cut & lined and looking so well.

Thanks to our club secretary who dealt with all logistics with the county board and the other 5 clubs who played.

Thanks also to all who helped with umpiring and car-park duties on both weekends.

Best of luck to St Colmcilles who will now represent Meath GAA  at the national Feile competition.

Across the Pond!

Congratulations to Rebecca Considine who captained the London Club, Round Towers to win the London LGFA League with a comprehensive 2.14 to 1.5 victory over Thomas McCurtains in Ruislip at the weekend.
