Next week’s draw will be in Jack Kelly’s Greenfields and will be for €3,300.

Our Junior A’s slipped to another defeat vs Corofin’s intermediate team in the league last Saturday evening in Corofin. In an extraordinary game the final score was 6-8 to 3-8, with 8 out of the 9 goals scored coming in the first half, 6 of them going to the home side. We now prepare for the first round of the Championship, which sees us take on St. Michaels’ on 16th/17th June.
Junior B's undid their good work of recent weeks with a very poor performance last Friday in Claregalway where we lost 3-6 to 1-8.
We conceded two goals in the opening five minutes which left us chasing the game all the way through. The first goal came after just a minute when a long delivery was dropped in our full back line and the second came minutes later after the ball was given away in the half forward line.By half time the score was 2-3 to 0-4. Our points came from Steve Monaghan (2), Evan Flynn and Ronny Biggins. Captain Justin Ryan set up Steve for a great goal chance but unfortunately the home keeper was equal to his effort.
Our defence were excellent in the second half as Claregalway opened the scoring but were then held to just one point in the following twenty minutes. Our problems were further up the field, similar to the first half, as we constantly gave away the ball, took the ball into the tackle and kicked terrible wides. Despite this 1-2 from Evan Flynn and a great point from the left wing by Fintan Joyce left the minimum between the teams 1-7 to 2-5. A close range free and a counter attack goal extended Claregalway lead to five points and all we could offer in reply was a Tom Corbett point.
Best for us were Bryan Carey, Ger Fahy, Ger Flynn, Ronny Biggins and Noel Gibsey.
Team- Kevin Lee, Ger Fahy, Bryan Carey, Cathal Thornton, Fintan Joyce, Sean Kenny, Ger Flynn, Ronny Biggins, Eoin McHugh, Steve Monaghan, Christy Day, Noel Gibsey, Seamus Durkin, Evan Flynn, Justin Ryan. Subs- Tom Corbett for Seamus Durkin, Steve Nally for Cathal Thornton, Sean Gillon for Sean Kenny. Next game is home to Menlough on June 16th.
U-14s are scheduled to play their Shield final vs Claregalway this Friday at 7pm in Clonbur.
Best of luck to all club members that are sitting Leaving and Junior Cert Exams.
