We had no winner of our Lotto Jackpot for €10,300 on Sunday night in Campbell's Tavern.  We had no match 3 winners so we drew 5 lucky dips sharing €150 -  Ronan Keady (Ower), Margaret Callanon (Luimneagh East), Brian Biggins (Headford), Ciara Lawless (Wakefield), Aiden Keane (Headford). Numbers drawn were 10-13-22-27. Next week's draw will be for €10,450 and will be held next Sunday night in Murphy's Kilbeg.

A good first half performance provided the platform for our Intermediates to take victory over Leitir Mór in their opening league game of 2018 in front of a large home crowd, 1-14 to 0-10 the final score. This was an important tie as the winners would be awarded 3 points instead of the usual 2, as will be the case for 3 more rounds this year on which the County players will be available to their clubs for league action.

After the recent poor spell of weather it was a welcome change for supporters and players to be greeted with warm sunshine on this Saturday afternoon. We took the Senior side by surprise early on. An early point gave us the lead in the opening 5 minutes and by 8th minute we were 0-3 to no score ahead, with one from play and one from a free. A couple of wasted opportunities for Headford followed before the Leitir Mor full forward broke their duck with a fine point from way out on the right hand side. We were quick to respond with point to restore our 3 point lead. We built a lead in the next 15 minutes as the visitors were still realising they were in a game. We scored 6 points from play in this period to stretch our lead to 8 points approaching half time. To put the icing on the cake we blasted to the net to give us a 1-10 to 0-3 lead at the break facing into a stiff breeze on the restart.

The visitors were always going to come back at us in the second half and they wasted no time scoring the opening 2 points of the half and they started to get a foot hold around the middle third. We scored two long range efforts to leave score at 1-12 to 0-6 midway through the half. Leitir Mor enjoyed much more possession in the second half and looked much more like the Senior side in this contest as we struggled to keep with them. They scored the next 3 points of the game to reduce the gap to 6 with less than 10 to go. They were getting a stronghold on proceedings but a much needed fisted effort put us 7 in front and out of danger. The teams traded scores in the last couple of minutes before the final whistle confirmed our first win of the season.

While it was a good first half performance, the team will not be happy with their second half effort which nearly cost us dearly.

This was an all round team effort with some great moves and super passing. It will leave management with plenty of positives to take into next Sunday's clash with CLG Oileáin Árann on Inis Óirr
