We had no winner of our Lotto Jackpot for €11,450 last Sunday night in the Headford Arms Pub. We had no match 3 winners so we drew 5 lucky dips who receive €20 each - Angela Chapman (Clydagh), Dolores Burke (Kilcoona), Farrell Family (Liss), Jane Hickey (Freshford, Kilkenny), Brian Bane (Melbourne, Australia) . Numbers drawn were 16-17-21-24. Promoter's prize went to Ronan Keady. Next week's draw will be for €11,600 and will be held in the Angler's Rest Hotel on Monday night. The Division 4 (Intermediate) league game vs Clonbur due to go ahead last Saturday was called off due to Clonbur being unable to field a team. Our next game is in 2 weeks time vs St. Brendans'.
Headford 1-16 Glinsk 1-6 The Juniors travelled to Glinsk on Sunday morning with a depleted squad but came away with two valuable points.With the wind at our backs we started slowly,missing numerous scoreable chances. A Noel Gibsey free got us off the mark and Christy Day added a well worked point shortly after. Glinsk drew level and then found the net when a point effort dropped short and was fisted to the net. We responded well with points from Enda Hannon,Steve Nally and Dylan Cunningham.This left the teams level at half time 0-5 to 1-2. The opening ten minutes of the second half were tight but once Alan Bane stylishly found the net from half a yard,we took complete control. The scores flowed after that with Dylan,Enda,Christy(2) and Kevin Lee pushing us into a 1-10 to 1-4 lead. Our backs coped well with anything Glinsk threw at them and at the other end another spate of points from Steve (3), Kevin,Alan and Noel left us convincing ten point winners. We have three games left, home to Claregalway and away to Caherlistrane and Mountbellew/Moylough. Our u-14s were down to play Leitir Mor last night (Tuesday) in the Championship, full report next week.
