Following two postponed league games, the Intermediate team finally get their competitive year off to a start this Friday when they play St. Michael's at home at 7:15pm in the John Dunne Cup.
The u-21s have lost out to Mountbellew/Moylough in the North Board "A" Semi-Final on a score line of 0-11 to 2-2. Although we found scores very hard to come by we were well in the game right up to the final whistle and played well in patches. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough on the evening. Cathal Newell and Geoffrey Corbett goals came at the start and end of a second period when in truth we failed to capitalise on a strong breeze. Others to perform well this evening were Darra Moran, Kristy Cunningham and Dylan Cunningham.
Thanks to all who came to support the team and management on the evening. This brings an end to our season at u-21 level so thanks to the panel and management for putting in another big effort in 2016.
The Minors got their league campaign back on track on Wednesday with a comprehensive win over an under strength Athenry team to make up for a poor display last week. We started well going 1-3 to no score up after 5 minutes the goal coming from full forward Conor Walsh. This set the platform for us to kick on and dominate the first half. We went in at half time 2-8 to 2 points up. The second goal coming from Mikey O Brien and some good scores from Geoffrey Corbett and Conor O Malley kept the score board ticking over. The second half was much the same we dominated possession and two more goals from Conor walsh who finished with a total of 3-2 made sure we would not slip up and claim our second win from Three outings in the league. It was a very good team performance with our backs snuffing out anything Athenry threw at us James Varley and Danny O’Shaughnessy in particular had very strong performances. Conor O Malley and Louis McGeehan were dominant in midfield and up front we looked very dangerous with Sean Monaghan putting in a brilliant performance at wing forward and Conor Walsh getting us vital goals to kill off the game. Next Wednesday we are away to Loughrea needing a win if we have any aspirations to reach the league final.
The u-16's made it 3 wins from 3 games in the league last Tuesday when they comprehensively defeated an under strength Loughrea team in Headford. In what was an excellent team performance, our standout players were Dara Geraghty, Donagh Murphy, Dara Conneely and Alan Toher. The team now travel to Clarenbridge next Tuesday looking to keep their winning run going.
The u-14s are at home to Caltra in their league at 7pm on Wednesday.

Thanks to all who came to support our 25 Card Drive on Sunday in Cloughanover Community Centre.
