Our thanks to all our collectors who gave of their time at Joyce's last Saturday. They were Tommie Bane Danny Corbett, Alan Bane, Geoffrey Corbett, Paraic Walsh, Alan Meenaghan, Ronan Higgins, Sean Gillon, Richard Fahy, and Enda Hannon. Also a big thank you to all the collectors from St Furseys' Ladies football club. A big thank you to all who bought tickets on the day. The club is delighted to be involved in the first "Friends of Darragh" 7s Tournament in the Neale next Saturday August 1st which is being ran in memory of Darragh Walsh who was a friend to many of our members. Our minors were unlucky to lose out to Oranmore/Maree last Wednesday in the first round of the Championship on the unusual scoreline of 7-5 to 3-9. Despite what the score suggests we defended well for most of the game but Oranmore took full advantage of the breaks that fell their way. We played into a stiff breeze in the first half and after playing some excellent football we looked to be in a good position at the break, trailing by a single point. The second half was end to end stuff, with no fewer than 7 goals shared by the sides and the lead switched hands by the minute. However, in the last 10 minutes Oranmore sealed the victory, hitting the net twice. We still remain firmly in the Championship, with the draw for the next round seeing us at hpme vs Ballinasloe next week. It was a fine team effort and standout performers were James O'Brien, Cathal Newell, Mikey O'Brien, Sean Moran, Conor O'Malley & Charlie Keady. Well done to our u-7,u-8 & u-9 teams who played out very entertaining games vs Corofin this week. Both teams served up some great football in all the matches played. Our u-16s defeated Tuam Stars in a challenge last Thursday as they continue to prepare for Championship.
